A superb signet intaglio ring dating from the Edwardian period, set with a beautiful engraved bloodstone in 9ct rose gold.
Set with a wonderful bloodstone with visible flecks of red spreading across the deep green, the crisp intaglio features a shield, depicting the coat of arms of the Scottish clan, Monteith. Out of the shield rises a clenched hand wielding a dagger. Beneath the shield, reads the motto “Dum Vivo Spero” referencing to the Greek poet Theocritus who used his phrase “Dum Spiro Spero”, both in essence meaning “Whilst I live/breath, there’s hope”. The bloodstone measures 15 x 13mm, it is closed back and slightly curved, with a low profile. Weighty and substantial, it is a dream to wear.
Size: O.5/US7
