A fabulous diamond snake ring set in 9ct yellow gold and dating from the Edwardian era.
The most handsome snake with the prettiest little face adorned by a small yet feisty and precious old cut diamond. The diamond is approximately 0.07ct and measures around 1.3mm. Although the diamond is on the small size, the whole vibe of the ring is wonderful!
In lovely condition with the face and tail of the snake intact, it coils round three times measuring 9.2mm at its widest (with the head) and tapering down to 5.9mm at the back. With its smooth surface, it feels lush and super comfortable to wear, a great weight to it too with no thinning to the gold noted. Crafted in 9ct gold, with hallmarks still visible and a lovely buttery gold patina to it.
Size: P-P.5/US7.75-8
Fully hallmarked, Birmingham Assay, 9ct, 1914
Weighs 4.8g
Serpent rings became popular in the Victorian era, after Prince Albert gifted the young Queen Victoria with a serpent ring during their courtship. The snake came to symbolise an enduring love and friendship with its coiled shape representing eternity.
A beautiful snake ring with a bright sparkling old cut diamond, would make a wonderful addition to your collection.
