A wonderful antique ruby and diamond cluster ring set in 18ct yellow gold and dating from the Victorian/Edwardian era.
Set with a lush, oval hot pink natural and unheated ruby, it is approximately 1ct in weight and measures 8 x 6mm in its rub over setting. A beautiful and vivid gemstone, it is surrounded by a halo of twelve bright, sparkly old cut diamonds, colour H/I, clarity SI1/SI2 totalling .60ct (two are later brilliant cut replacements).
The whole cluster measures 14 x 12mm and it sits lovely and low on the finger making it great for everyday wear. In good antique condition, the ruby is free of abrasions and chips, with lovely facets and natural inclusions within the stone. Crafted in solid 18ct yellow gold, there is a faint stamp on the shank which I can’t quite make out, possibly French origin.
