I am thrilled to be able to offer this beautiful antique pendant in the shape of a dove in flight, set with turquoise and dating from the mid 19th century.
Originally a brooch, it has been lovingly and meticulously converted into a very wearable pendant. The entire piece is set with pavé turquoise stones of varying shades of blue and green (typical of old turquoise) and two little ruby cabochons for the eyes. With its wings spread out, beak diving downwards, it has been fitted with a 9ct gold bale that would fit most chains and dog clips. The piece measures 20.4 x 17mm and would look beautiful as a stand alone focal point.
Showing some minor age related wear, it is generally in good antique condition, to note one very small turquoise stone is missing just above the beak, though not noticeable when worn. The stones are set in silver with gold backing.
A Saint Esprit dove in flight held deep historical and spiritual significance, the dove symbolising purity and peace.
