A beautiful chrysoberyl and diamond ring crafted in 18ct yellow gold and dating from the Victorian era.
Set with three lovely well matched cat’s eye chrysoberyl cabochons, the line across the stones moves beautifully in the light.  This effect is known as ‘chatoyancy’, making cat’s eye chrysoberyl a rare gem. In between are four sparkly old mine cut diamonds, chunky and full of old charm character. The combination of the green grey chrysoberyl with the sparkly contrasting light of the diamonds is very appealing. All stones are securely set and the setting measures 18.7mm wide and rises 5.5mm too the top of the centre chrysoberyl. In good antique condition, it shows wear commensurate with age. Under strong magnification, there is evidence of some abrasions on the surface of the chrysoberyl and a small nick to one of the diamonds. They are noted for accuracy, the stones are completely eye clean and in my opinion do not detract from the beauty and charm of this antique ring. A lovely example of Victorian craftsmanship and the band is  a sturdy 18ct yellow gold.
