A superb version of the famed Augis Médaille d’Amour charm, set in wonderful 18ct yellow gold and dating from the mid 20th century.
With its original fitted gold bale and wonderful details, including a bright polished shimmering border and a “sunburst” engraved top, it is crafted in solid 18ct gold and has a wonderful weighty feel to it. Featuring three tiny deep pink rubies and a small diamond placed on the “plus” sign, it is in beautiful condition. Marked 'A Augis' to the side, it also bears very faded stamps to the top. Set with an elongated bale that will fit fine/medium chains or can hang from a bolt ring.
Measures 15.5mm
18ct tested, faint stamps (A, eagles head)
Weighs 2.5g
“Plus qu'hier et moins que demain” is a shortening of “I love you more than yesterday, less than tomorrow”, a line taken from the love poem written by Rosemonde Gerard to her husband (the author of Cyrano) in 1889. The word "plus" is symbolised by a plus sign, and the word "moins" by a minus sign, in this case where the rubies sit.
A wonderful example this particular charm, one that carries a lot of sentiment and a rare one to find in such lovely condition. Can be worn on its own or as part of a collection.
