A beautiful antique garnet mourning pendant set in 9ct gold and dating from the Victorian era.
Featuring a large pear shaped foiled garnet cabochon, bezel set, with a substantial gold surround, leading to a slightly arched top with original engraved details and original bail. The garnet cabochon is so beautiful, with a true glow, a deep berry burgundy colour and a wonderful size, measuring 13.6 x 11.7mm. With a glazed back and its original case intact, this precious pendant was created as a piece of mourning jewellery and has remained in wonderful condition. The whole pendant measures 31.3 x 19.3mm and is crafted in 9ct yellow gold which has a lovely buttery glow to it.
Tests 9ct, bail is hallmarked, I think I can just about make out an achievement for Birmingham Assay and possibly a letter
