I get so giddy when I come across such a beautiful piece of history and artwork in its own right!
This stunning antique mourning ring, dates from the late 1800s and exhibits the most remarkable hand chased enamel and gold work all around the band. Featuring elaborate raised engraved details of flowers and foliage, a wonderful combination and contrast of the black enamel banding and the butter gold patina, it is a true tribute to the exceptional Victorian craftsmanship of the time. It remains in very good antique condition, with minimal signs of wear. A much loved mourning ring, it is engraved inside the band in memory of “George Eaton, obt 13 June 1823, 58” and is fully hallmarked for 1890. The band measures 7mm wide and is solid and thick, weighing 4.3g. Great to wear on its own or as part of a stack, the eye really gets drawn into the striking colour and crisp details that follow around the band.
