Hand on heart, this is one of the most exquisite rings I have ever come across.
The most intricate and beautifully made mourning ring, crafted in solid 18ct gold and dating from the Victorian period.
The hand carved band has the phrase In Memory Of engraved all around the shank, in intricate scrolled lettering and hand chased details. Featuring five perfect pink creamy grey pearls, set in slightly hammered gold within a leafy curved surround, everything about this ring screams quality and attention to detail. The band is in immaculate condition, I cannot fault it, looks like it’s been wrapped in cloth and put in a drawer to be forgotten for almost 150 years, because that’s how old it is…
Crisp and sharp, no sign of wear of abrasions to the gold, the pearls are all in top condition and secure. Furthermore, the patina on the band is a deep buttery golden gold that truly glows!
Heavy and hefty with a thick profile and a gorgeous solid feel to it, this is truly a collector’s dream and the most stunning example of Victorian craftsmanship. Such a wonderful and exciting find, I am thrilled to be able to offer this museum quality piece and know it will be adored by its next caretaker.
