A fabulous double diamond snake ring set in 18ct yellow gold and dating from the Victorian era.
This really is a wonderful double snake ring. I love how chunky and puffy the heads are, yet still handsome and elegant, they intertwine and flow together beautifully. Featuring two chunky old cut diamonds coming in at .40tcw, both lively with good colour and clarity, puffy with a high crown and each measuring around 2.8mm. The ring is in lovely condition with the faces and tails of the snake intact, coiling round twice, the ring measures 9mm at its widest and tapers down to 4.7mm at the back. With its smooth surface, it feels very comfortable and lush to wear - no thinning to the gold. Crafted in 18ct yellow gold, with hallmarks intact and a lovely buttery gold patina and a rather comforting weight to it!

Fully hallmarked, Birmingham Assay, 18ct, 1898

Serpent rings became popular in the Victorian era, after Prince Albert gifted the young Queen Victoria with a serpent ring during their courtship. The snake came to symbolise an enduring love and friendship with its coiled shape representing eternity.
A beautiful double snake ring featuring substantial old cut diamonds, would make a wonderful addition to your collection.
