A dream come true to be able to source this treasure!
Just stop, take a breather and feast your eyes on this glorious specimen!
This exquisite and rare, museum quality Victorian brooch/pendant is crafted in luscious 15ct yellow gold and depicts a snake tangled around leafy ivy and foliage. Holding two big cabochon garnets that glow from within, a teardrop shaped opal that exhibits the most stunning play of colour, two creamy seed pearls and garnet eyes, it is simply sublime. Exquisitely made and weighing a delightful 13g, it is covered in wonderful engraving and details from the sweet, slightly open mouthed snake to the small bunch of berries/grapes dangling over its tail.
Stamped 15ct on the underside of the brooch and the back of the pear shaped garnet, it measures 48.2mm top to bottom laid flat and is 30mm wide.
In beautiful condition throughout, there’s a small nick to the dangling garnet, noted for accuracy, it is eye clean. In full working order, can be worn as a brooch or attached to a chain through the bail.
