A delightful Georgian rosecut diamond solitaire dating from the early 19th century, around 1820.
A classic one of the period, it is set with a fantastic domed rose cut diamond in a cut down collet silver setting. The diamond is a really gorgeous one, clear and bright, it is foil-backed and sits in a closed-back setting. In beautiful antique condition, the round bezel measures 7.9mm in diameter, whilst the rosecut diamond measures 5mm across. Crafted in high carat gold, there is historical evidence of a previous resize though it is very well disguised.
Size: L.5/US5.75 (resizable)
Tested at least 14ct
Weighs 2g
The triangular facets of rose cuts were very popular during the Georgian period as they glistened more beautifully in candlelight than any other cut. This is a rare find and will make a wonderful engagement ring and addition to your collection.
