A wonderful sapphire and old cut diamond ring set in 18ct yellow gold and dating from the Edwardian period.
A truly unique ring with such an attractive design, the way the stones are placed reminds me of an owl showing off its wide big blue eyes. All natural stones, the sapphires are a stunning strong velvety blue, with good clarity and colour, a few inclusions noted within the stones. They have such vibrant saturation and presence, completely mesmerising and sparkly. As are the old cut diamonds! All with puffy high crowns and totalling approx .55tcw, they are clean, bright, lively stones and the combination of the two colours in the setting is stunning. The setting measures 13.5 x 7mm wide and can easily be worn stacked with other bands, making it a great alternative engagement ring.
In good antique condition, there are some age related nibbles on the sapphires, though only noticeable under magnification. Completely eye clean and so precious!
